About

Honest sourcing education, with nothing to sell you

The information you need to buy from overseas suppliers, explained plainly by people who have actually done it.

If you have started sourcing products from overseas, you already know the problem. Every resource either talks down to you, assumes you know 80% of it already, or is quietly trying to sell you something on the back of the advice. The freight forwarder wants your freight. The agent wants a cut of your order. The factory wants the sale. Almost nobody is just telling you how it works, straight.

That is the gap Product Sourcing School fills. We teach the mechanics of sourcing — finding suppliers, negotiating minimums, checking quality, paying safely, avoiding the scams — for people who are learning as they go and cannot afford an expensive mistake. No jargon fog, no assumed knowledge, and no assumption that complexity equals expertise.

Who it is for

First-time importers buying their first batch of product. Online sellers moving from reselling to their own brand. New sourcing and buying staff who were handed the job with barely any training. If you know enough to know you do not know enough, this was written for you — and it treats you as a capable adult, not a student who needs managing.

How we are different

We are independent. We do not source products for you, run your orders, take a commission, or sell a course at the end of the article. That independence is the whole point: it means we can tell you when a supplier's quote is generous and when it is a trap, without worrying about whose business we might upset. When we say check the sample and pay through a protected route, it is because it protects you, not because it earns us anything.

We also try to be honest about what is genuinely confusing, rather than pretending sourcing is simpler than it is. Where something is a judgement call, we say so. Where the rules vary by country, we point it out instead of stating one version as gospel. The aim is a rounded education you can trust, not a shortcut that leaves you exposed.

Part of a family

Product Sourcing School covers the sourcing side of international trade — getting the goods. It sits alongside two sister resources: Shipping Education, which covers moving the goods (freight, customs and documentation), and Learn Trade Finance, which covers paying for the goods (payment terms, letters of credit and the money side). Between them, they cover the three things every importer has to understand, each without an agenda attached.
